The heart is such a tender thing
So afraid of being hurt
So ready to sing
So often it is lonely here
With no where to go or turn
No one to wipe my tear
So I seek friends to fill the space
For comfort, help, and strength
Where I can show my face
But they do not understand me
They do not believe my words
And they refuse to look and see
So they push me away for fear
Of what I am not certain
Just that from me they veer
Why can't they just understand?
That our friendship can be true
That our time could be grand
That I will never ask for much
To talk is my only desire
I do not need to touch
So why is it so hard to find
A friend to pass the time
Where I can share my mind?
Why am I thus always banned?
Why don't they believe me?
Why can't they understand?
