The Long Road

The Long Road

We each have a journey to make, both long and far
It can not be hurried, neither by plane nor by car
We start at birth
We don't end at death

This journey is full of steep hills, and valleys below
Each hill seems like forever to him who tries to grow
Up to the sky
Up until we die

It is easy to look behind, to stop and stare
The way down seems easy to walk and the view so fair
The view from high
The world looks all alive

However as you get close to the bottom and see
Your view is limited and you are not as free
Caged down below
Always tossed to and fro

Thus we learn to reach for the stars, hill after hill
But before the next height first there is the valley chill
Up to the sun
So the valleys we run

To keep climbing up is a hard and difficult task
When the valleys so frequently our higher views mask
Its so easy to stop
Its so easy to stop

But we still have a journey to complete, a goal to find
So do not stop, but work both the body and the mind
Walk when you can't run
Don't forget to have fun

Your journey is what will give your life its story
When the day comes and you find your eternal glory
Soon all will be done
And your glory like the sun
